Privacy
This is a personal website. I collect the minimum needed to know which content helps, catch errors, and reply to you. I don't use analytics, advertising, or preference cookies.
Controller
Sergio Azócar (Chile) is responsible for the data on this site. For any privacy question, write to privacidad@sergioazocar.com; that address forwards to my personal Gmail (Google) inbox.
Analytics (PostHog)
I use PostHog (PostHog Inc., USA), through t.sergioazocar.com, to measure page views, clicks, scrolling, loading performance (web vitals), the visited and referring URL (always without parameters), language and approximate time zone, and browser, operating system, and device type.
It works without cookies or local storage: PostHog computes a daily identifier on its servers from a hash of the IP address, the browser, and a salt that changes every day and is discarded. The IP address is not stored or used to locate you. Events are kept for up to 1 year. If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, nothing is captured.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding which content is useful and improving the site. You can object by enabling Do Not Track or by writing to me.
Technical errors
If something breaks in the browser or on the server, PostHog Error Tracking records the technical error: the message and stack trace, the URL without parameters, and the browser type. It is used only to fix bugs and is kept like the analytics data.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the site working.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, I store nothing until you confirm: your email, language, and where on the site you subscribed travel encrypted inside the confirmation link, which expires in 24 hours.
To send you the confirmation email, your address goes through Resend (USA), which keeps a log of each email for 30 days. Once you confirm (double opt-in), you stay on Resend's list until you unsubscribe from the link in any email or ask me to delete you. Resend records whether you open the emails and which links you click.
Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
Talk and workshop invitations
What you send through the invitation form reaches me by email through Resend (which keeps a log of the email for 30 days) in my Gmail (Google) inbox. I don't store it in any database and keep those emails for up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
Legal basis: replying to your request.
Security and hosting
The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible anti-bot check that analyzes technical browser signals without tracking cookies. I also use your IP address to limit how many times the forms can be submitted, with Cloudflare counters that delete themselves after about an hour.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes the IP address and browser to serve and protect the site. Cloudflare Workers technical logs are kept for up to 3 days.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in protecting the site against abuse.
Third-party content
The talks page shows video thumbnails loaded from YouTube (Google) servers, which receive your IP address and browser when they are displayed. The player, in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), only loads if you click to watch a video; from then on Google may store identifiers in your browser.
The open source page shows shields.io badges, which also receive your IP address when they load.
Cookies and storage
The site uses no analytics, advertising, or preference cookies: the language is set by the URL. If you visited before and an old analytics or language cookie is still around, it is deleted on your next visit.
Some blog pages store a technical copy of the article index in your browser (localStorage) to switch languages faster. It contains no personal data.
International transfers
PostHog, Resend, Cloudflare, and Google may process data outside your country, mainly in the USA. I use them under the contractual safeguards each provider offers for these transfers.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, objection, portability, and blocking or restriction of the processing of your data, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to privacidad@sergioazocar.com.
I reply within the legal deadlines: Chile's Law 19.628 applies today and, from December 1, 2026, Law 21.719 (30 calendar days). If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR applies (one month).
If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint with Chile's Personal Data Protection Agency (from December 2026; before that, with the courts) or, in the European Union or the United Kingdom, with your country's supervisory authority.
